Authentic Sarawak Food in PJ

Authentic Sarawak Food in PJ

We were brought by a photographer friend of mine Robin Wong for a taste of Sarawak food. He knows this place and have confirmed some of the Sarawak dishes here are authentic. So me, Riz and Sim met Robin at I- Tea House where you can find Aunty Lan Sarawak Deli and Rustic Kitchen.

Sarawak Laksa

The Sarawak Laksa did not disappoint. I haven’t tasted the authentic Sarawak Laksa and because Robin knows how it tastes I trust him. I really enjoyed it much compared to the other dishes. This dish is dubbed as “Breakfast of Gods” by Anthony Bordain and he is absolutely right.

Kueh Chap

The very easy way to describe this dish is that it’s a milder version of Bak Kut Teh, but lighter in taste. Not salty and not in thicker sauce. Ingredients are pork belly, intestines, pig’s ears and various kinds of beancurd, vegetables and hard boiled egg. It’s refreshing and in my opinion, you won’t feel guilt when eating unlike the Bak Kut Teh.

Tauge Mee

It’s basically fried noodles with bean sprouts and pork meat. It has sweetness with it which makes it interesting to me. But I love how it’s crunchy because of that bean sprouts. I could eat this all 3 meals in a day with no problem. The Tauge Mee is from Rustic Kitchen.

So 2 places where we got our food. The Laksa and Kueh Chap were from Aunty Lan Sarawak Deli while the Tauge Mee is from Rustic Kitchen.

Have you tried these Sarawak dishes? Let me know your experience. Is there any dish you want me to try in Malaysia? Let me know on the comments section below.
