Fook KL – A Contemporary Asian Fusion Cuisine in KL

Fook KL is on a league of its own when it comes to location and of course the food. They serve contemporary Asian fusion cuisine that will ignite your appetite and your curiosity. They can be found along the famous Jalan Sultan Ismael in KL and just in front of Life Center.

Fook KL entrance

At first glance, all you see is this huge Fook sign. Then if you look closer, there will be a pathway that leads to the restaurant with chinese lanterns hanging above the walkway. They are sitting on top of a hill so you will take few more steps going up to get there. Don’t worry because going up is a bit refreshing. You are literally going into a cooler place as there are trees above it.

There is also another staircase if you choose the left side and you will still end up to Fook KL as long as you go inside this sign.

Do not be surprised on the next photos below. We are still on the same restaurant. Yes, it is very different but it still has that consistent red Chinese lantern hanging everywhere. and this is not even the whole thing. They have air-conditioned rooms and bigger ones that can accommodate a few people. This one outside is for smokers and those who want to hang out on the outside.

The bar area where it is lit in red and yellow, are for those smokers who love to hang out with friends and talk loud with each other. I have not been here till late night but more people love to hang out at this area just because they can smoke. If you don’t want to experience 2nd hand smoking though, staying at the air-conditioned area is a must.

The consistent theme on wall murals and the framed portraits made me love to eat inside the air-conditioned area. It felt you are in a very sophisticated environment and the ambiance smells romance. It is quiet here and you will have better conversation for sure.

Foreplay (appetizers)

Crispy Soft Shell Crab served in a charcoal bun - Fook KL

Crispy Soft Shell Crab served in a charcoal bun

The Crispy Soft Shell Crab is what a true creation of a modern fusion cuisine. I love how they presented it with the charcoal bun. The Crabs are deliciously crispy and soft thus the name.

Fook Platter was really good although I was looking for more, I understood that it is just for appetizer so I just finished it off to get ready for the next one.

Hola Let’s Fook – Pisco, Grapefruit puree, Lime, Thyme, Bitters – RM 48

V4 was my favorite of the two it’s because it has some fruits and vegetables with it. I loved how it tasted.

V4 – Gin & tonic with brocolli, Apple Cucumber, Lime – RM 46

Main course

The lamb was cooked perfectly. It did not have that after taste you get when cooked improperly. The sauce that came with it is equally the best, in my opinion. The farm vegetables that came with the dish is not just there for decoration but it was also cooked just right and tasted great. It really shows attention to details were emphasized during and after the preparation of their food

Sweet Endings (Desserts)

Mango Panna Cotta
Mango Panna Cotta (RM25)

The Mango Panna Cotta was my favorite of the two desserts I have tried here at Fook KL. It has pudding on the inside with mango syrup on top of it. Real mango strips were placed strategically and the portion is just enough. I am cutting my sugar consumption so one serve of this is just enough for me.

The Fook Tiramisu is heaven. It is sweet but with the complement of the rum that you can add with few drops, it just tastes great. Do try this out if you are looking for a great tasting dessert you will not forget.

To sum it all up, Fook KL is your modern restaurant located at the busy Jalan Sultan Ismael, just a few blocks from the Petronas Twin Towers.
By now, you might have noticed their playful seductive names on their menu. I find that equally appealing to younger but mature customers. Really, what I see with this place is a romantic place to dine with, yet a good place for a group of friends who just want to have fun on a weekend or after work on weekdays. This restaurant is also good for birthdays or parties and you can book for reservation here.

I hope this article helped you somehow if you are looking for a place to bring your special someone or friends and family for dinner or just have fun.
